Camille Villar confident Comelec will clear her of ‘wrongful’ allegations

Senatorial aspirant and House Deputy Speaker Camille Villar expressed confidence that the Commission on Elections (Comelec) will clear her of the “wrongful” allegations made against her.

In a statement, Villar said she was made aware that the Comelec Committee on Kontra-Bigay will issue a show cause order against her in connection with an event held in Imus, Cavite, early this year.

“First, as of today, I am yet to receive a Show Cause Order from the COMELEC,” she said.

“Second, the event referred to happened last February 9, 2025, which was way before the campaign period,” Villar added.

The official campaign period for the senatorial race started last February 11.

“Third, I vehemently deny any allegation or insinuation of vote buying or commission of any election offense for that matter,” Villar said.

“And lastly, I am confident that the COMELEC will clear my name of these wrongful allegations upon hearing my side on the matter,” she added.

Comelec Executive Director Teopisto Elnas Jr., head of the Committee on Kontra Bigay, said his office received a copy of a Facebook video from an anonymous complainant, showing Villar on stage while local aspirants were allegedly raffling cash prizes to the audience.

Villar also expressed her gratitude to her supporters for their unwavering trust and continued support.

“Nananalig ako na dahil sa inyong suporta, magkakaroon ang Pilipinas ng Bagong Boses at Bagong Bukas,” she added.
