‘This journey hasn’t been easy’: Camille Villar tears up as she thanks dad Manny for going all out to help her reach her dream

Senator-elect Camille Villar couldn’t hold back her tears as she was officially proclaimed one of the winning senators in the 2025 midterm elections.

“I am overwhelmed by this moment because this journey hasn’t been easy. And my heart is simply filled with love and gratitude,” said Camille, her voice cracking with emotion.

She was joined at the event by those dearest to her—her father Manny Villar, brother Paolo, husband Erwin Genuino, and their children, Tristan and Cara.

Camille expressed thanks to her supporters, campaign team, and fellow candidates. But her most heartfelt words were reserved for her family.

“To my husband Erwin and my kids, Tristan and Cara, thank you for being with me through the highs and lows. To my brothers Paolo and Mark, thank you for always guiding me and bringing me home. And above all, to my parents—my mom, Senator Cynthia, and especially to you, Papa,” she said.

“Papa, I remember when I was young, it was my dream to be like you—to serve and help as many people as I could. Thank you for helping me make that dream come true.”

Camille also vowed to honor her mandate with hard work and courage.

“I promise to work twice as hard, stand twice as firm, and serve with all my heart. Because leadership means showing up, standing up when it’s easier to stay silent, and doing what’s right even when it’s not convenient.”

As she ended her speech, Camille’s tears turned into a proud smile—ready to carry forward the legacy of public service started by her family.
