In a recent interview on “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda,” politician Camille Villar shared her thoughts on this matter, emphasizing the importance of mutual care within families.
For Camille Villar, it is indeed the responsibility of children to care for their parents as a gesture of love and respect for the upbringing they received. She explained, “Naniniwala ako na pag bata tayo, siyempre, inaalagaan tayo ng mga magulang natin. Pero dapat both ways, so dapat inaalagaan natin ang isa’t isa.”
This statement reflects Camille’s belief in reciprocity within family relationships, where care flows both ways—from parents to children and later from children to parents.
Camille further elaborated on her personal experience, sharing her desire to ensure that her own parents, former Senator Manny Villar, and former Congresswoman Cynthia Villar, continue to live comfortably and without difficulties. “Para sa akin, gusto ko komportable ang mama at papa ko tapos hindi sila nahihirapan hanggang ngayon” she added, highlighting the importance of providing her parents with the same level of care they once gave her.
Now, as a mother herself to two children, Tristan and Cara, Camille expressed how becoming a parent has reshaped her perspective. She shared that, as the youngest in her family, she was often the one being cared for. However, the transition to motherhood has become the most cherished chapter of her life.
“I tried to be a supportive wife. I tried to take care the people around me. Tapos kasi noong bata ako, my whole life, ako ‘yung palaging inaalagaan dahil ako ‘yung baby. Baby ako sa pamilya namin, ako ‘yung pinakabata. Tapos nagulat ako noong naging mom na ako, iyon ‘yung pinaka-favorite part ng buhay ko,” she said.
Camille’s insights highlight the significance of care in both directions within families. Her message resonates with the idea that mutual support strengthens the bonds between parents and children, creating a cycle of love and care that benefits everyone.
