Camille Villar bats for mental health awareness: It’s OK not to be OK

MENTAL health is health.

Thus, said millennial senatorial candidate Camille Villar, who batted for mental health awareness during the last stretch of the campaign for the May 12, 2025 polls.

Camille Villar enjoined everybody to take good care of their mental health, citing the importance of handling stress from work and personal issues.

“It’s not easy but it’s real. That’s why as a millennial leader, mental health is one of my core advocacies. It is not something that should be hidden, or become one’s source of embarrasment,” she said, pushing for mental health services in all sectors of the society, including students and working professionals.

Camille Villar also called on Philhealth to expand its coverage to mental health issues.

In marking Mental Health Awareness Month this May, Camille Villar reminded everyone that mental health concerns should be addressed.

“Isang paalala na ang kalusugang pangkaisipan ay kasing halaga ng pisikal na kalusugan. Isa ito sa mga pangunahing adbokasiya ko, dahil mahalagang may access ang bawat Pilipino sa tamang suporta at pag-unawa,” she said.

“Hindi ka nag-iisa. Nandito tayo para sa isa’t isa,” Camille Villar added.

As part of her advocacies, Camille Villar also filed House Bill No. 10933, or the proposed “Teacher’s Mental Health and Wellness Act”

She said the proposal seeks to provide holistic support to all educators in the country, recognizing the crucial role they play in nation-building.

The bill aims to ensure that teachers’ mental, emotional, and psychological well-being is given the same importance as their professional development, as their welfare directly affects the quality of education.
