Another Villar scion is aiming to make Senate history.
Las Piñas City Rep. Camille Villar will run for senator in next year’s elections, and she has the full backing of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
The daughter of bilyonaryo Manny Villar and Senator Cynthia Villar is among the 12 politikos included in the administration coalition’s senatorial slate in 2025.
The Senate hopefuls were formally endorsed by the President during a large political gathering on Thursday.
“Ngayon, ang aking ika-labingdalawa sa hanay ng nagpamalas ng husay sa pamumuno hindi lamang sa pamahalaan, kundi pati sa mga kumpanyang nagbibigay serbisyo sa ating publiko,” the President said during the administration alliance convention.
“Mga kababayan, Deputy Speaker Camille Villar, Ang Bagong Boses Para sa Bagong Bukas!” he added.
If she lands a Senate seat, Rep. Camille joins her brother Senator Mark Villar in continuing the family’s public service legacy.
Meanwhile, Senator Cynthia, who will end her Senate term in 2025, is rumored to go for a local post in Las Piñas City in next year’s polls.
The Villar-led Nacionalista Party is part of the administration coalition dubbed Alyansa ng Bagong Pilipinas forged by Marcos for the 2025 elections.
