Camille Villar pushes for modern agribusiness, rural job growth

MANILA, Philippines — Senatorial candidate and Las Piñas Rep. Camille Villar is pushing for the modernization of agribusiness and the creation of more rural jobs to transform farming into a profitable, high-tech, and sustainable industry for Filipino farmers.

“Agriculture is the backbone of our economy, yet many farmers still struggle with low income and outdated practices. We must modernize agri-business, invest in technology, and create more jobs in rural areas to uplift farming communities,” Villar said during a campaign event in Nueva Ecija.

If elected, Villar will push for:

  • Agri-tech innovation and mechanization to increase productivity
  • Low-interest loans and direct market access for small farmers
  • Stronger farm-to-market infrastructure and digital platforms Expansion of agri-processing, eco-tourism, and cooperatives
  • Youth and women’s participation in agri-business

She emphasized that rural job creation is key to reducing poverty and decongesting cities, ensuring that families can thrive in their own communities.

“By investing in modern farming, digital agriculture, and rural industries, we can empower farmers, boost the economy, and make agriculture a thriving industry,” Villar said.
