House Deputy Speaker Camille Villar recently took her oath as senator before her mother Senator Cynthia Villar in an intimate event that symbolized the continuity of public service in the Villar family and marked a meaningful step in the younger Villar’s political journey.
In her message, Senator-elect Villar expressed her deep appreciation for the public’s trust and outlined her commitment to advancing legislation that promotes inclusive growth and social welfare.
“I enter the Senate with humility and determination, guided by a strong sense of duty to improve the lives of Filipinos,” she said. “My focus will be on ensuring that young people, women, and entrepreneurs are given the tools and support they need to succeed.”
Camille Villar likewise highlighted her legislative priorities, including enhanced mental health programs, expanded educational and healthcare services for women, affordable housing initiatives, and targeted assistance for small and medium enterprises (SMEs). She also vowed to strengthen child protection policies and promote job-generating reforms.
Having served as a district representative of Las Piñas City, Villar is recognized for her community-based initiatives and practical policy approach. She also brings insights from her experience in the private sector, where she held leadership roles in retail and real estate businesses.
Villar’s platform signals a strong emphasis on social equity, economic empowerment, and youth development.
She formally assumes her post on June 30 when the 20th Congress opens. And she is expected to continue addressing key national challenges, including those delving into economic recovery, healthcare access, and education reform.
Villar also vowed to “listen to the people and work toward solutions that deliver real, lasting change.”
