MANILA — Senator-elect Camille Villar took her oath of office on Wednesday before her mother Sen. Cynthia Villar, her father, former Senate President Manny Villar, announced on Facebook.
Villar, president of the Nacionalista Party, said Senator-elect Villar “took her official oath of office as senator at our family home in Las Piñas, with her mom, Cynthia, administering the oath.”
Members of Congress are among the government officials authorized to administer the oath of office.
Other senators-elect have opted to take their oaths before Supreme Court justices and barangay chairpersons.
Senator-elect Villar will join her brother Sen. Mark Villar at the Senate of the 20th Congress, which will convene in July.
“The whole family is always here to support you,” their father said.
The Villars will be among four sets of siblings at the Senate in July alongside Sens. Pia and Alan Peter Cayetano, Sen. Raffy and Senator-elect Erwin Tulfo, and half-brothers Senate President Pro Tempore Jinggoy Estrada and Sen. JV Ejercito.
