Camille Villar to work ‘twice as hard’ after achieving dream of becoming senator

Senator-elect and outgoing Las Piñas lone district Representative Camille Villar has promised to work “twice as hard” as she has finally achieved her dream of becoming a senator like her father, former Senator Manny Villar.

In her proclamation speech on Saturday, May 17, Rep. Villar said she accepts with all humility the responsibility and pride of being a senator.

“And I promise that I will work twice as hard, that I will stand twice as firm, and I will serve with all my heart and exhibit leadership,” she said.
For Rep. Villar, leadership is about “showing up, standing up when it is easier to play it safe, and speaking out when it is more convenient to stay silent”.
Villar then turned teary-eyed when she dedicated her victory to her family, who has been with her “through the highest and the lowest”.
She even recalled telling her father that it was her dream to be like him and to serve and help as many people as she could.
“Thank you for helping me achieve my dreams and making my dreams come true,” she said.
“Sa ng ating mga kababayan na tumulong po sakin at nagbigay ng tiwala at suporta, maraming maraming salamat po. Iingatan ko po ang inyong tiwala at suporta (To all those who helped me and gave me their trust and support, thank you. I will take care of your trust and support),” she said.
Rep. Villar vowed to work hard to ensure that Filipinos’ dreams for themselves, their loved ones, their families, and the nation would come true.
