House leader Villar ‘honored’ after topping survey

House Deputy Speaker and Las Pinas City lone district Rep. Camille Villar says that she feels “deeply honored” after a recent survey showed her ahead of her fellow Metro Manila solons.

Results of the “Job Performance Ratings” of lawmakers in the National Capital Region (NCR) conducted by the RP-Mission and Development Foundation, Inc. (RPMD) between Feb. 25 and March 8 showed Villar at the top spot with a 92.3 percent rating.

“I am deeply honored by this recognition as it is an affirmation of our performance in the House of Representatives and the lone district of Las Pinas. I dedicate this to all my constituents,” Villar said in a statement Wednesday, March 22.

“This survey will serve as our inspiration and guidepost to continue to work for the betterment of our constituents and communities,” she added.

The ranking solon from Las Piñas added she will continue to push for socio-economic programs for her constituents, focusing on education, livelihood, and employment generation, among others.

Villar was named “Government Hero of the Year” by the prestigious Stevie Awards in the United States (US) last year.

Stevie Awards judges had recognized Villar under the Covid-19 response category for her remarkable work during the pandemic. This included a vaccine incentive program dubbed “May Bahay sa Bakuna” that awarded non-monetary packages to vaccinated Las Pinas folk, aa well as livelihood and infrastructure programs in response to the pandemic.

The survey among district representatives in Metro Manila forms part of the “Boses ng Bayan” nationwide survey, which isc  comprehensive evaluation of the performance of elected public officials using face-to-face interviews.

A total of 10,000 respondents participated in the survey, with had a margin of error of +/-1 percent. The foundation said constituents appraised and ranked district representatives “based on representation, legislation, and constituent service”.

In the same RPMD survey in Metro Manila, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., who serves as Department of Agriculture (DA) secretary, garnered a rating of 77 percent; while Vice President Sara Duterte, the concurrent Department of Education (DepEd) secretary, got 75 percent.
