MANILA, Philippines — Las Piñas Rep. Camille Villar recently turned over the city’s first Kabataan Center to leaders of the Sangguniang Kabataan of Barangay Pulang Lupa Uno.
Villar seeks to provide the city’s youth with spaces conducive to learning through the establishment of Kabataan Centers in the city’s barangays.
Each center is equipped with computers, printers, a photocopy machine and free Wi-Fi connection.
The center would have books and a meeting space where children can gather and study together.
The Pulang Lupa Uno center, which measures 63 square meters, was constructed from May 13 to 31 and inaugurated on July 6.
“Through the Kabataan Centers we are putting up, we want to help the youth in their pursuit of education,” Villar said.
Villar has filed House Bill 9572, the proposed E-books for the Barangay Program Act, which includes a digital library platform that would provide a secure and organized database of digital learning resources.
